There’s so much to celebrate about all the wonderful pilots out there! It’s rare to find another profession where everyone is so supportive of each other—encouraging one another through difficult times and celebrating each other’s hard-won achievements.
The word “pilot” is truly all-encompassing. It doesn’t differentiate based on age, gender, culture, political views or size. Everyone brings their own unique gifts to aviation. The young bring enthusiasm, wonder and talent, while older pilots share wisdom, experience and mentorship. As a female pilot, I have always received incredible support, encouragement and practical help from many wonderful male pilots. It’s deeply appreciated and always returned in kind.
This mutual support among all subgroups is a key reason our profession continues to grow.In the early days of aviation, when many women faced real barriers and challenges, determined women still made it happen and achieved their dreams. They worked through obstacles, found ways around them, but most of all, they never made excuses.
These pioneering women pilots are still revered today by all pilots because they demonstrated what determination, discipline, patience, and courage can accomplish.
